Course Details
Throughout this course, you will build your confidence and knowledge learning the 3 foundation hair cuts that will, through practice, enable you to become a commercially successful mens hairdresser. You’ll be directed through the classic styles which forms the concrete in all mens hairdressing.
Please note that this course is not a skin fade course. This course focuses on classic shapes, scissor work, hair types & hairlines.
Throughout the course you will also learn the importance of great consultation & how best to conduct these, managing client expectations, client suitability, face shapes.
Who’s it for?
This course is ideal for those who are not yet confident in mens hairdressing, have recently qualified their NVQ Level 2, or if you’ve taken a break as a stylist and are looking for a refresher to brush up on the latest cutting techniques.
Required Equipment
- Scissors
- 2 – 3 cutting combs in various lengths
All other equipment will be provided.
Course Length
This course runs for 3 Mondays, over 3 weeks – 10am – 4.30pm.
The days will commence with a detailed demonstration in the morning, with a practical workshop in the afternoon.
All students will be provided with a professional blockhead, and we will work in long too short styles throughout the course.

The Art of Consultation
The key to a happy client is a great consultation. Your clients will remember how attentive you are when listening to them more than anything else you do during their appointment. Learning to listen to their needs whilst assessing factors of their lifestyle, how much time they like to spend on their hair, their face shape, skin tone, etc. This will put you in the best possible position to make constructive suggestions on what will work for that individual. It makes your life a great deal easier and enables you to set solid expectations for your client before you even begin.
The Bradley Cooper
The Bradley Cooper, is the classic mid-long swept back look. A layered style that’s rocked by many.
The Robert Patinson
The Robert Patinson is a mid-length variation of the current most popular mens hairstyle. Long and messy on top with tamer back & sides. This is the foundation of most mens hairdressing.
The Zac Efron
The Zac Efron is the classic clippered short back & sides. Again these styles will act as your building blocks for the majority of mens hairdressing in many length variations.
